The Element Church Blood Drive Was A Huge Success

During this challenging time when so many people are still adjusting to all the changes due to the precautions taken to try and keep everyone safe, there are certain needs that have not gone away. One of the big ones in the healthcare industry is blood. If we have a shortage of blood available for transfusions, we can lose lives.

There are so many people that are regular donors and love to help meet this need, however many of the normal locations where people can donate their blood, have been closed. A great example of this is people work. Many employers give this opportunity at their locations so the employees can give blood. But if businesses have had their staff work from home, then they don’t have that opportunity, and this can cause a problem with supply and demand of blood transfusions.

Therefore, on June 8th and 9th Element Church partnered with the Red Cross to offer a blood drive at our Wentzville campus. The turnout was amazing. Our goal was to help 40 people give blood. We had 57 people come and give blood! Two thirds of those that came, heard about it from Element Church and 1 half of the people who came were regular donors The other half were 1st time donors and were prompted to come and donate because they saw the need. Here are just a few of the comments from people when asked, what prompted you to donate?

“I try to give blood as much as I can through the year. It is important that we support others. This one gesture helps all! By the way, the techs were so nice and super friendly today. Another good experience!”

“I have donated for years. Normally my work has blood drives, but we have been working from home for 3 months. This is my church and close to home. Perfect opportunity for me to donate. Thank you, Element Church, for hosting the drive.”

“I have been wanting to donate and I know there is a shortage and I also have some community things to do for work. Even though I really hate needles, it went very well. The ladies were great.”

“I saw it on the YouTube Church Service broadcast. I give blood at every opportunity.”

This last one cracks us up...

“I’m off work for the day. My wife elbowed me in the ribs and scheduled the appointment for me.”

Thank you again to the Red Cross and all the volunteers and donors that helped make this happen. Remember this great old saying, “Each of us needs all of us, and all of us needs each of us.”
